Here we're in Ketchikan in the totem park--tall trees with totem poles interspersed. A beautiful walk, quiet, dewy, inspirational. At the same park we spotted two bald eagles just sitting in the tree, high above it all. A native flower in its glory and another kind of glory as we saw in Victoria BC--this is a government building, lit up at night. Awesome!

Juneau was our first stop and opportunity to get off the ship. The first picture is the sight we saw from the top of the tram, 1800 ft straight up the mountain. We had time to hike, shoot pictures and take in all the mountain beauty. A stream flows down the huge mountainside where we also caught a glimpse of a single mountain goat. Lots of green and lovely flowers.

Here is the group at the Italian restaurant with Jon and Rebecca in the foreground. The next picture is the illustrious gang of ten in our matching T-shirts which Andrew was responsible for drawing. Great job Andrew--they looked very professional. Lastly, here's the birthday girl with cake-one of the many luscious desserts we indulged in (this huge one I shared).

Here are some of the fun things we did. Picture 1 is salmon spawning in a tiny area where fresh water mixes with sea water. Just in front of Brooke there are a bunch of salmon laying their eggs. They look just like the rocks Brooke is standing on, but they wiggle back and forth and when finished swim back out into the sea water. Next picture is the "aquarium" a one-room tank with an exceptionally large number of sea life. We also played a bit of ping pong. Since I'm not accomplished at this sport (I don't think any really) I asked to just volley back and forth with everyone. It was a lot of fun, and Kate was always there to go running after the ball for us. Thanks guys!

This is beautiful Glacier Bay. The white pieces in the first picture are icebergs. They are small and not dangerous, but they surrounded us. As you can see it was a beautiful sunny day. The water was clear as glass in the bay, here with not so many icebergs.

Of course, the scenery was fabulous! The weather was cool, but most days were sunny. Sometimes we had fog and clouds, even a tiny bit of rain, but mostly it was just gorgeous as the following pictures show.

Here are some cute pictures of Kate. She was too young to leave home, and I thought she might have a hard time on the trip. But she surprised us. Except for not wanting to have her picture taken, she was perfectly agreeable the whole time. Notice the confidence as she drags her little monkey suitcase. In the first picture, she is dancing all by herself on the dance floor. The last picture is in Sitka.

There were many fun places to gather. Early mornings found many of us in different places working off the delicious food we enjoyed everywhere! The first photo is the gym which included a giant view of where we were traveling. The middle picture is our first dinner at a table for 10. We celebrated my birthday, even though it was a month earlier. Nice thought though! The next picture shows us relaxing in the Crow's Nest, high above the front of the ship. This was an exceptional view and great place to read, listen to music, chat and "hang out."

In the center picture, we're all waiting for the van to pick us up at the airport in Seattle. It's about 2:30 pm and we're supposed to be there at 3:30. We are thinking we have plenty of time, but when we got to the dock at 3:30 and got on--we had about 15 minutes before the ship took off. Other pictures are the infamous guys of the family and a look at one of our many get togethers in the bigger cabin. We enjoyed room service quite a few times--most of the time ordering our favorites--hot chocolate and cookies. We also celebrated Ryan's birthday here with cake and ice cream. Lots of chatting, joking and just happy being together.

Here is a quick look at Jeannie's home. Of course she and Emmett have done a beautiful job of decorating. They are really good at it. First is the kitchen which looks out onto the huge patio and backyard. Next is the master bedroom, looking out to the backyard also. Next is the entry and breakfast room, and last is the backyard with large trees, gazebo, fountain and 180 ft of new fence. It's a very nice 55 and up neighborhood located close to many wineries, one of which we had a short tour--no samples though. Besides all the touring, we visited several thrift shops where they find many interesting items. Mother and I came home with several new shirts, books and a few other things. Very fun!

Here are a few pictures along the way from Mother's and my trip to Santa Rosa. It was perfect weather all the way. We stayed in Cambria on the coast the first night (the first picture). We visited Cambria Lodge and they have beautiful gardens which we walked through and took this picture. The next picture is of Mother, Jeannie and Emmett in Sonoma eating our lunch in the shade outside of one of many wineries. They really showed us around the area, which we loved seeing. Mother was such a good sport, even though she got a little tired. I think she's glad to be back home again--but we had a lot of fun. The next picture is coming down Highway 1 coming home. The road is windey, but the views are spectacular.

It's been a great year for flowers. The garden has already produced a bunch of tomatoes, a little broccoli, enough strawberries to make freezer jam, and everything is just beautiful. It's been a pretty cool summer so far.

A little cousin time together. We also had a mini music night. Rebecca favored us with a very difficult and nicely done piano solo. Our musicians are improving and increasing. Yay!

Here we are still at Griffith Park. Matthew and Kate are riding horses together and then Kate and Katie together. No one freaked out and they really liked riding. Next picture is on the miniature train--a nice ending before we all came home.

I really enjoyed having Jon's and Ryan's family here for a few days. The first and third pictures are at Griffith Park Observatory. Darice and the kids weren't there that day, but Brooke, Jake and Kate joined us several times during the visit. You can probably see the "Hollywood" sign in the background. Josh is contemplating with Enstein in the 3rd picture. The middle picture is Brent and Josh BBQing hamburgers. They did a good job, but the gas was too low and we couldn't get them to cook. Thank goodness for microwave ovens.

I think it's about time to post some new (really old by now) pictures of my cute grandkids and what's going on here lately. I just noticed it's been 6 mos since I added to the blog. So here goes! This was Christmas as Grandma's with Stacy and her family. The sunset is from the plane at John Wayne airport. So gorgeous!

The first few days we all spent time together and played. Some of the grandkids having fun at a Provo park, the three brothers enjoying being together and everyone stuffed into one hotel room to hang out and chat.

The whole family descended on Provo within a couple of days before the party. Here are all the grandkids and great grandkids in the one second we could get them all together. All in all we had about 80 friends and family attend the party to honor Mother. It turned out so well.

Will's baptism was a very special event. I was invited to give one of the talks at the baptism. Thanks for that special honor. Will was so ready to be baptized and so cute. He looked great in his new suit.

Here we are in the strawberry fields in North Carolina. Everyone enjoyed picking--even Nate. They were so luscious and huge, and before we knew it we had a huge collection. So good!

The Utah Bosleys came for a visit for Easter vacation and although it was a short stay, we filled it with fun things to do. Here are some cookies we decorated--and ate.

There was also a lot of splashing going on in the jacuzzi--it was Conference weekend, and we watched Conference but we still visited with Brooke and Jake at their place, had an Easter egg hunt and went to Disneyland with our Disney Days vouchers. Jon's family delivered food to shut-ins in Utah and I made a fleece quilt and hat for someone here in Orange County.

We went early to Disneyland and it rained in the morning (poured) then by noon was beautiful. After the rain came the crowds.

Ryan and Darice and family were here from AZ enjoying the party and the beautiful weather.

Looks like Carson had too many cupcakes. We all enjoyed being together.

Here we are at Brooke's new place--lots of parking, greenbelts, close to her work and they love it!

Kate has learned her first lesson in birthday cakes! You just dig right in and eat. She wasn't sure what to do when she saw the whole cake placed in front of her, but Mom soon showed her what to do. It was a cute ladybug cake that Brooke made. The two of them looked so cute!

Kate is growing up! A year now and she's walking when she wants to and recognizes me. But no teeth yet! Very cute!

I love this picture, although Rebecca is missing. She was taking the picture. Look at the snow covered mountains on the Provo side of the lake. We are standing on Provo Lake here where it is frozen over, and very cold. It was a gorgeous day! And fishermen were out ice fishing in holes they had augered out.

Here's the family singing the Christmas carol they sang in church the Sunday before Christmas. Rebecca is playing the piano, and each took a turn singing a part. Some good harmony too. Nice job!

Katie loves gymnastics! Here she is practicing on her balance beam constructed by Jon and Rebecca, but given by Santa.

Christmas Day was fun playing games, taking pictures and watching everyone enjoy their presents. Later in the day, Rebecca served homemade cinnamon rolls and orange crescents along with wonderful HB ham, sweet potatoes and broccoli. Such a fun day!

Here's Matthew with his Christmas pony. We read Richard Scary's books that Rebecca found. They were the same books I read to my kids 30 years ago. They are still great books--Matthew had lots of fun looking for Lowly Worm and discovering the great adventures of the other characters on every page.

A cute little "cow" visited me on Halloween night. She didn't mind the costume and seemed to know what to do with the pumpkin treat basket. Thanks Brooke and Jake for coming over. That was a "treat."

This is Thanksgiving weekend in Arizona. We had a great time. Just before I arrived in Buckeye, I loved this sunset, and knowing AZ sunsets are super, I stopped to take a picture before it was dark.

Ryan, Darice and I stopped for a second just before Thanksgiving dinner the next day to take this shot. The food was fabulous--turkey and all the trimmings--even orange rolls. And I think, seven pies. What a feast!

Later that night Carson played one of several of his 16 Christmas carols he had learned. After he played it thru once, I played a duet with him. He's a good little pianist. Way to go, Carson. Keep up the good practicing!

The Bosleys and Campbells got together for some delicious lasagne and brownies. Sorry I didn't get a picture of all who were there. It was quite a bunch. We had Jon and Rebecca Campbell and their two kids, Dureece and Brett and their two, Jon and Rebecca Bosley and their five, Mother and Mike and Me. Not all are pictured. This was taken after the crowd left. It was so fun to get together. Thanks J & R for hosting the whole group.

It was HOT! It was very sunny. It was a great day to sit in the shade and watch Jon's kids have fun on the fantastic park equipment. Notice Jessica hanging on this sliding bar. Great smile. Also see how tall Brent is. He's as tall as Rebecca. Matthew, Josh, Katie and Jon are all there but not pictured. In the background are the Wasatch Mountains, Provo and Provo Lake. What a beautiful place!

After a fun game of (oh, what is this called) Jon's kids with my encouragement were able to actually bend their bodies so that their toes reached their mouth. Well, I couldn't hope to do that nor I'm afraid would I want to. Lots of fun though.

We all had fun at the beach. The waves were especially high and we played across the street from the beach house. We wanted to have a hot dog roast the next day but all the local natives had reserved all the firepits, so where did we have our roast? At the beach house of course. We spread out our towels on the front patio, sat under the umbrella and barbequed our hot dogs and s'mores on the brand new BBQ. It was a fun day.

Ryan and family stayed some extra time and included a lot more activities. Above is our trip to the tidepools. So much good stuff to be found!

We had our traditional bounce house, and after the bouncing tired everyone, Jake read stories to the kids inside.

We also went to Rose Hills to visit Ted's grave after the new headstone had just been placed.

The Briggs and the Bosleys gather for a picture after the blessing. Missing are Jon's family, whose son Matthew was sick, so only Jon could come, and Andrew's family, being so far away. But we missed you! Afterwards we all came to the Bosleys for dinner and enjoyed Stacy's famous recipes.

My trip to North Carolina was so much fun! It's such a beautiful place and it was really fun to see those cute grandkids again. Nate is a great walker now--usually in the wrong direction, as he was pretty shy around me. He did warm up about the time I had to leave.

Ivy is NOT shy. She has a darling, sparkly smile which she flashes most of the time, especially when she has done something she might get in trouble for. It works every time!

Hyde still has those great eyes and is soooo cute. He LOVES the Wii. We can get him to do most any chore if the reward is to play the Wii or the "compuder."

Will shows such a warm, caring personality. He is old enough to show his intelligence and young enough to ask the darndest questions.

Hi from California! I'm not sure if I'm up to this new tech stuff, but why not. Thanks to Maren and Andrew I now have this blog. I hope I can publish a few things that will be of interest for you to look at periodically. What a challenge!
